FERRIES
Decker’s Ferry was at Slateford, Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northhampton County, Pa. to Knowlton Township, Warren County, N.J. This ferry was established by George Decker, who was granted a charter by the legislature of Pennsylvania, February 12, 1856, and was used principally by him to ferry over slate from his quarries for shipment by the newly constructed D.L. & Railroad. The town of Slatford was founded by Hon. James M. Porter, who owned and operated a valuable slate quarry about a half-a-mile to the northwest. The ferry is indicated on Beers’ Atlas of Warren County, published in 1874.
